- Worked in Chicago Public Schools for 36 years; continued to volunteer after retiring
- Visited Third Unitarian Church in 1965 to hear Dr. Martin Luther King, who at that time wasn’t hosted at other Black churches for fear of potential violence; subsequently joined and was a member for 50 years
- Started the Third Unitarian Scholarship Fund for college bound students in 1974
- Organized and managed Third Unitarian’s annual coat drive; volunteered at local food pantries and shelters
- Organized and chaired the 1400 North Lockwood Block Club
- Member of Congressman Danny K. Davis’ Education Task Force
