Rev. Janet Boykin Johnson

- Graduated from George Washington High School; attended Spelman College; graduated from Hunter College in 1966
- Received Master of Social Work degree at University of Chicago
- Married George Boykin in 1963; daughter Kiaris born 1965; later married Clarence R. Johnson with whom she had second daughter Kimari
- Worked as a social worker in Chicago Public School System for more than 20 years; active member of the First Unitarian Society of Chicago
- Member of Amnesty International and of the Board of Directors for the River Oaks Towne Houses Cooperative
- Participated in community affairs and gave selflessly to her family and the public, adopting two of her grandsons (Jason and Justin Johnson), and hosting international exchange students as a program coordinator with Experiment in International Living
- Moved to San Francisco in 1996 to pursue ministry, earned Master of Divinity at Starr King School for the Ministry in 2002
- Part-time minister to the Mt. Diablo Church of Walnut Creek (2004 – 2007)
- Consulting minister at Unitarian Universalist Church of Cortland, NY (2008 – 2013)
- Served on pastoral care hospital boards and co-managed a clothing store run by the Chaplaincy for the Homeless
